Mushroom pepper fry is a spicy dish made with Mushrooms in freshly ground Black Pepper as well as some spices. and quick fry. Capsicums are added as needed. It is very popular in South India, especially Tamil Nadu.
Ensure that all your ingredients area ready and available.
In a blender, take 1 tbsp pepper, ½ tsp fennel, ½ tsp cumin and ½ tsp coriander seeds, and blend blend to coarse powder.
Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a Kadai/wok, and add 1 tsp mustard, 2 dried red chilly and few curry leaves.
Now, add 1 inch ginger and ½ onion. Sauté until onions shrink slightly. To this, add 500 grams mushroom and stir fry on high flame.
Sauté until onions shrink slightly and moisture is released. Then, add ½ capsicum and stir fry for 2 minutes. To this mix, add the prepared pepper masala powder and ½ tsp salt. Your meal is ready, when all the spices are well coated. Enjoy. Ta da!!
Notes & Tips
If too spicy, Black pepper can be reduced. Try reducing the black peppers to 1/2 tsp.
If too spicy, Fennel seeds can be reduced to 1/2 tsp
If unavailable, capsicum (green bell pepper) can be skipped. Reduce the black pepper to ½ tablespoon and fennel to ½ teaspoon.
