Aloo Tikki Burger is a popular street food dish in India, which originated in the northern part of the country. It is made by combining crispy potato patties, known as Aloo Tikki, with various condiments, vegetables and spices, all housed between two buns. The potato patties are usually made by mixing boiled, mashed potatoes with spices, herbs and sometimes, breadcrumbs, and then deep-frying until golden brown.
Assemble all ingredients together to avoid last minute rush.
Boil potatoes first and then roughly mash them.
Wash and finely chop ginger, green chillies, coriander leaves for Aloo Tikki
For Tikki Masala, add cumin seeds in a Pan and roast them for 30 seconds over low flame. Then, add fennel seeds, coriander seeds, black pepper cons in the Pan. Slightly roast them until fragrant.
Remove from heat and add salt, let it cool down. Once cool down completely, transfer to a Grinder Jar and grind it into a fine powder and keep aside for further use.
For Salad, slice onion, cucumber and tomato. Slit green chilli and finely chop coriander leaves.
Cooking
For Aloo Tikki
In a Mixing Bowl, add mashed potatoes, chopped coriander leaves, ginger, green chillies, prepared tikki masala, salt, red chilli powder, fresh bread crumbs, oil and mix everything well.
Take a ball size portion from the mixture and shape it like a burger patty.
Now, heat oil in a Frying Pan and fry the burger patty from both sides until golden brown and crispy.
Your Aloo Tikki is ready for Burger!
For Salad
Add onion, cucumber, tomato, lemon juice, lettuce, green chillies, salt, red chilli powder, coriander leaves.
Mix everything properly and keep aside.
For Toasted Burger Buns
Heat oil in a Pan and add red chilli powder.
Then, place the buns in it and toast them until golden brown and crispy.
Keep aside.
For Tamarind Mayonnaise Ketchup
In a Bowl, add mayonnaise, tamarind chutney, red chilli powder and mix well.
Keep aside.
For Assembling Aloo Tikki Burger
Place the toasted bottom bun in a Serving Plate, apply some tamarind mayonnaise ketchup and place lettuce.
Then, place the prepared patty, then add the prepared salad on it.
Now, add some green chutney, a cheese slice then finishes it by placing the toasted top bun.
At the end, heat butter in a Pan, toast ready burger from both sides until golden brown and crisp.
Spices & Salt: Feel free to adjust spices and salt as per your taste buds.
Toasting at end: Toasting ready burger at the end is optional.
Oil: Use any neutral tasting oil to make Aloo Tikki Burger Recipe.
Tamarind Mayo Ketchup: It adds more taste to the recipe, however you can skip it completely.
Red Chilli Powder: Choose degi mirch or Kashmiri red chili powder.
Freezing Options: You can prepare Aloo Tikkis in advance(do not fry them) and freeze them in a ziplock bag. Use when prepare Burger.
