Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup mint leaves
  • ½ cup coriander leaves / cilantro chopped
  • 1 tbsp tamarind paste
  • ½ inch ginger chopped
  • 2 tsp aamchur / dry mango powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • ½ tsp cumin powder
  • ¼ tsp Asafoetida / hing
  • 2 tsp black salt / rock salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper powder
  • 4 cups water

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Assemble all ingredients together to avoid last minute rush.
  • Wash thoroughly mint leaves and roughly chop them.

Method

  • Add mint leaves, cilantro or coriander leaves, chopped ginger and ½ cup water to a Blender and blend them into a smooth paste.
  • Transfer the paste to Bowl.
  • Add lime juice, ground black pepper, roasted cumin powder, black salt, asafoetida, salt, dry mango powder, granulated sugar, and tamarind paste.
  • Add the remaining 3 ½ cups of water and stir well. Refrigerate it for 3 to 4 hours for the flavors to combine together.
  • Pour Jaljeera into Serving Glasses. Add few ice cubes and serve chilled.

Notes & Tips

  • More add in options: You can add one green chili while grinding the ingredients if you like more spicy drink.
  • Garnishing Option: I like to add boondi / fried chickpea flour balls just before serving.
  • Sugar: You can adjust sweetness as per your taste buds.
