Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup peanuts
  • 3 green chillies
  • 2 tbsp chana dal / bengal gram
  • pinch Asafoetida / hing
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 10 curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp Sesame seeds
  • ¾ cup water
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp salt

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Assemble all ingredients together to avoid last minute rush.
  • Peel garlic cloves.

Cooking

  • Heat 1 tbsp oil in a Frying Pan over low flame and add chana dal. Fry them until they turn golden brown. Do not burn them. Keep aside.
  • To the same oil, add the peanuts. Stirring often roast the peanuts on low to medium-low heat for 5 minutes until they are crispy and crunchy.
  • Now, add curry leaves, garlic cloves, green chillies and asafoetida. Mix and sauté for a minute or until the curry leaves become crisp.
  • Then, add sesame seeds and mix. Switch off the flame. Let the mixture cool down.
  • Now, transfer the mixture into Grinder or Stand Blender, when the mixture cools down. Also, add the fried chana dal and salt as per taste.
  • Add water in parts and blend to a smooth consistency.
  • Serve Peanut Chutney with your favorite snacks or with any South Indian dishes.

  • Storage: Store Peanut Chutney in an Airtight Container and refrigerate for 2 to 3 days.
  • Consistency: You can alter the consistency of the chutney as per your preference. For a thick chutney add less water and for a medium-thin chutney add more water. Be careful not to add too much water because the chutney will become thin and the flavors will become diluted.
