Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup milk powder
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 cup coconut
  • ½ tbsp ghee / clarified butter ghee for coconut
  • ¼ tsp ghee / clarified butter ghee, for milk powder

Preparations

  • Assemble all ingredients to avoid last minute rush.

Cooking

  • Take a Kadai and heat ghee into it on low flame.
  • Now, add milk and milk powder into it and stir completely to avoid any lumps. Add milk powder into batches so that no lumps will be formed.
  • Now, add sugar into it and mix well.
  • Cook the mixture until it starts combining together. Do not overcook the mixture otherwise it will turn sticky and becomes rubber like texture.
  • Now, heat clarified butter in a Pan or Kadai on a low heat.
  • Add desiccated coconut into the Kadai and sauté it a little. You will feel the aroma of coconut. Do not overcook the coconut.
  • Now add sautéed coconut into the prepared milk powder mixture and mix well.
  • Take a square or rectangle mould or baking tray and place butter paper in it.
  • Now, add the mixture into the mould or tray and set the mixture evenly into it for 2 hours.
  • You can also sprinkle some chopped dry fruits of your choice and press dry fruits a little on top of the mixture so that they will stick to Burfi. This is totally exceptional step.
  • After 2 hours, take set mixture out of mould and cut it into your desired shape.
  • Tada! Your Coconut Burfi is ready.
